Isuzu i-Series trucks for 2007

Isuzu is still in the pick-up companies, selling their version of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon compact pickup. Isuzu version is a likeable truck, though the model range is limited.

At first glance, the Isuzu i-series is often perceived, not quite correct, as warmed-over General Motors product. While the i-Series is more or less identical to the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, is the fact that Isuzu a hand in the development of the trucks was the case. TheDeal was that Chevrolet and GMC would have first shot at selling the truck in North America, Isuzu would sell a slightly different, diesel-powered version called the D-MAX in the Asia-Pacific region, the already highly marketable.

Begins with the sale of the Isuzu i280 and i350 in the U.S. in 2006, although a fraction of those sales of the Colorado Canyon. Part of the problem was the lack of choice. The i-series came in two versions: The four-cylinder manual-transmission extended cab 4x2i280 and the five-cylinder automatic crew-cab 4x4 i350. Chevrolet and GMC continue to sell their versions of the truck with a variety of cabins, bed, engine, transmission, and powertrain combinations.

For this year, things have improved slightly. The four-cylinder Isuzu now offers an automatic transmission, while the five-cylinder model comes in both extended and crew cabs and a 4x2 drive train when the 4x4 is only as a Crew Cab Both vehicles get larger enginesand new names: i290 and i370 that its 2.9 and 3.7 liters of displacement.

There is no carpet and an AM / FM radio in the driver's seat, when air conditioning and 4-wheel ABS brakes part of the standard parts are available. The truck includes accessories, cloth seats, carpets, rear jump seats, CD/MP3 player, floor mats, and tinted windows are worth $ 699 all in all. The automatic transmission will be at $ 1089 and the bottom line at $ 19,500. It contains manual door locks and crank-upWindow.

The i290's extended cab has rear-opening doors on both sides for easier access to the second row, where there are two fold-up jump seats with 3-point belts and LATCH child seat anchors. Like most compact pickup back seats, these are best suited for children. Once seat are pulled up, we find a handy tool, plastic box, which also tilts forward to provide flat load floor.

This year, the i-Series side airbags, a rare truck accessory in the pick-ups offers. They areIsuzus optional on LS-model extended cab and standard equipment on the i370 with crew cab.

By far the highest point of the i290 is its engine. At 2.9 liters, it is for a big four-cylinder engine, and it shows in the numbers: 185 hp and 190 lb-ft torque, the peak at a low 2,800 rpm makes sense. These figures represent an increase of 10 hp and 5 lb-ft over the last year more than 2.8-liter engine.

It would be easy to mistake the i290's off-the-line performance for that of aSix-cylinder truck. The car loses some of its get-up-and-go at highway speeds, though passing acceleration is (50 to 75 mph) are sufficient. The four-banger has enough torque to rotate the rear wheels, even under moderate acceleration.

The i290 has a payload of just over 1500 kg, its towing capacity is 2100 tow with the manual and 3100 automatic with more than enough for a small boat, a couple of ATV's, or a utility trailer. His bed width 4 "9"; bed is 5 "for theCrew Cab and 6 'for the extended cab. Movable support cables allow the tailgate to be kept open half way to keep and bear weight in this position.

The i290's steering is light, good but not sporty. The ride is remarkably quiet at highway speeds. As mentioned, the i290 comes with standard ABS brakes mentioned, but Advanced Safety Electronics lacking such as the electronic stability program, beginning, will make their way into products of competitors.
